Two British hotel executives and a Thai company director were allegedly wanted by Thai police after a fire reportedly broke out at their hotel in Koh Kut (Kood), Trat province, causing two tourists to be injured and significant property damage.
Police Lieutenant General Sompong Chingduang, Assistant Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, and his team arrived at Trat Provincial Police Station yesterday, June 30th, to follow up on the progress of the investigation of the fire at the Soneva Kiri Resort & Residences in Koh Kood.
The police filed charges against the Tropical Island Co., Ltd. as well as the owner of Sonevakiri Resort Villa Resort and its directors. The names include British executives, Sonashah Shivdasani, 45, and Karl French, 40, and Thai director Patchaya Aawawanon, 37. All of them were charged with causing a fire by negligence, causing damages to people’s property, endangering other persons as well as allowing others to use the building for hotel business without obtaining a license from the local officials.
As of June 29th, the Thai director, Patchaya, presented herself to the officials according to the summons to acknowledge the allegations of such offenses. The two British nationals are in the process of being tracked down for legal prosecution.
